Differential Learning

RDC's Differential Learning methodology provides the learner with specific knowledge requirements to achieve and maintain 100% proficiency in current job knowledge. This approach reduces learner time-to-proficiency and develops a better-qualified workforce.

The RDC Differential Learning Environment gives organizations the ability to:

  • Share best-practice knowledge

  • Expand workers' skill sets

  • Mitigate the loss of institutional knowledge as workers retire

  • Identify knowledge deficiencies

  • Reduce time-to-proficiency

  • Provide a safer work environment

The Differential Learning Environment starts with a comprehensive Mastery Evaluation based on the terminal knowledge objectives identified in a processing unit by subject matter experts. The questions map to specific topic objectives and corresponding learning modules. A personal learning plan specific to each learner's knowledge deficit is generated from the Mastery Evaluation.

After completing a module, the learner is presented with a final evaluation for that topic. This Final Evaluation tests the learner only on the previously deficient knowledge. The iterative learning/evaluation process continues until the learner demonstrates 100% proficiency.

Because the terminal knowledge objectives are defined upfront by subject matter experts, uncertainty about a learner's ability to perform a job due to insufficient knowledge is minimized. And, since each learning module and Final Evaluation is tailored to the demonstrated knowledge of the learner, time to proficiency is reduced at each stage compared to alternative methods.
