A major oil company had acquired multiple
refineries through acquisitions and mergers. This
created inefficiencies throughout the company as
different environments, cultures, training requirements,
policies, etc. were blended together. Plant managers and
corporate staff were seeking a way to implement Best
Practices by utilizing the best
operating manuals, training plans, procedures, etc. found throughout the
enterprise and leverage them to all the other facilities.

RDC implemented the
KnowledgeWeb service, using RDC's
core competency learning module database along with 25 hours
of newly developed web-based learning modules based on the
top performing refinery's FCC unit operating manuals.
KnowledgeWeb's integrated-learning capabilities for
job- and site-specific customizations allowed each
refinery to customize the learning modules to their specific
unit configuration and operation based on their equipment,
operating specifications, etc.
KnowledgeWeb's differential learning
capabilities allowed each
operator to quickly be evaluated on their current level of
knowledge and compare the result to the required knowledge.
KnowledgeWeb then automatically generated a personalized learning path for
each operator to address deficiencies. |

The client was able to implement a cost-effective and dynamic "Best
Practice" standard for dealing with required operator
knowledge throughout their enterprise. The net result was a more
productive organization with higher throughput and reduced
accidents and injuries. |
